"May One Pray for the Wicked to Repent?"

This 17th century responsa by R. Jonah Landsofer offers a window on the role of philosophy in halacha.

Wednesday, August 16th  8:30 PM:

"May Children Attend School on Shabbat?"

This 20th century responsa by R. David Z. Hoffman offers a window on the role of economic class and social policy in halacha.

The responsa to be studied will be available in English translation.  Rabbi Klapper’s lectures will be preceded by a half-hour Beit Midrash period during which participants can prepare the primary sources used by each responsum. SBM fellows will be available as study partners.
